Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The Fairland Park re-development will start this February and run for 10 weeks.

There is an artists feature to which the artists would like local people to be involved with the design and making. The workshops are being held at North Harringay Primary.

For further details of the re-development works and the artists workshops please see the Fairland Park website.

The following is taken from Matt's website describing the first workshop:

Design workshop – Saturday 23rd January 10am-1pm at North Harringay School

1. Tell us the word/script for HOME in your language.

2. Bring ideas and images of the history of the area

E.g Old Harringay House, strawberry fields, hay, hunting scenes, building, trains, green fields and trees, WW2 bombs, people moving in from different parts of the world, photos of the motifs on your house………

3. Thoughts and images of the present area – what activities and places are important to you?

What bits of the new park will be important. Play areas, nature, dog walking, picnic seating?

If you can't get along to the workshop, but have some ideas, Matt has said that you should feel free to contribute online, either at the Fairland Park site or on this post.
Update:

(1). Groundwork, the charity managing the park re-development, have agreed that the contractor English Landscapes will start on Monday 8th February, giving a completion date of Tuesday 20th April 2010.

(2). The Design workshop last Saturday at North Harringay Primary went very well. Thank you to all who contributed.

(3). The 'Make' workshop will be Saturday 13th March 10am-1pm at North Harringay Primary school. Here you get to help make the artist feature. The feature will be a level area of 12 sq metres utilizing Portland stone and mosaic, using stone carving and inlay as part of the design.
