Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Fairland Park - "Making workshop" this Saturday 10am-1pm at North Harringay Primary School

An art feature has been commissioned for Fairland Park - the artists are running two workshops for local people to get involved with the design and making of the artwork. The design workshop in February was really well attended and there were some fantastic drawings done

This Saturday is the making workshop, where you can have a go at carving the stone and laying the mosaic tiles. Everyone is welcome.

Thanks to everyone who has donated old crockery for this project - we still need more! Please let me know if you have any that I can pick up from you, before Saturday.

The plans:

To produce a circular paving feature for the park based on the design of a compass rose that will depict the history and current diverse makeup of the area and will also point to places of importance to local residents.

The piece will be situated centrally in the new park and is to be made up of stone slabs in Portland Limestone (cream) and Sandstone (golden brown).

Some of the stone will be inlaid with mosaic – vitreous glass or pottery shards and others will be carved in low-level relief. A golden line of mosaic will flow across the design.’
