Hi there;
We made a good first attempt at cleaning up the rubbish at Fairland Park. It needs another go though. Perhaps a couple more. There were about six of us there. A bit disappointing, but that’s the world we live in at the moment. There was a ton of broken glass, a needle, carpet in the bushes and remnants of rough sleepers. Photos below. Lots and lots and lots of rubbish. Dorothy and are going to give it another go on Wed 20 Aug at 9am. If you can help, that would be great. You know, it’s a park for all of us, please try to come.
It’s a shame that the council has let our parks gone to this. Perhaps someone could take the lead on taking this to the council. Fairland Park has been neglected for years. The council needs to be accountable for this.
Hope to see you there.
Cheers,
Dorothy and James

Thanks James and Dorothy for taking this initiative and doing the clean up. I will be sending this thread to the Parks Service so they are aware of your work, and also so they can see what you found.
This is a very local community park in Harringay, (it used to have a log cabin playcentre where the Council ran afterschool and holiday playschemes pre-austerity) but needs support just like Finsbury and Ducketts Common.
I'll chase the parks service. If anyone wants to start a new Friends of Fairland Park please email me - zena.brabazon@haringey.gov.uk
Thanks again,
Zena
