Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi all.

Has anyone else noticed how horrific the images are on a constant loop being beamed out of the windows of Ersan & Co opposite the Salisbury?

When it was first being refurbished, it was a mystery as to what it was going to be, then as the 'PERSONAL INJURY, 'ACCIDENT CLAIMS' and 'MEDICAL NEGLIGENCE' banners were unveiled it became clear that it is a ambulance chaser megamart.

So what right? These [sort of firms*] have to be based somewhere.

My gripe is that they show videos on a constant loop of all of the worst things which can happen. There is one video in particular which features an awful car accident where a car crosses into the oncoming lane and is obliterated by a truck. I have been in a couple of car accidents, and they are no joke, and it struck me that this is particularly inappropriate footage to be broadcasting to the general public 24 hours a day.

Also the monitors seem to be beaming these out at about a million lumens, they illuminate the whole street, thankfully my bedroom is not on the street side or I would need blackout curtains.

Who can I complain to? (Besides you lot...)

Photograph it.

I have only viewed these files from the road when driving past. I have seen they are stacked high against the windows and but I had no idea that the files could be read. If so that would surprise me as it would be a breach of confidentiality unless the client had agreed to some public disclosure?

I disagree. I have to question the integrity of a company that would waste public resources to further their own end with little consideration for the views of their community. As a result of their actions they have opened themselves up to criticism in other areas, as was just made apparent by one member's post regarding their filing system. Its not the first in fact. It is coincidental that I had read two reviews from dissatisfied former customers on google. One, in particular, relating to lost paperwork which I did not reveal until the subject was brought up again: that's not my particular concern right now.

By disengaging with the local community, by disregarding the rules laid out by the council they have laid themselves open to a certain amount of scrutiny.

In actual fact I have walked past ersan with a solicitor friend and they are shocked files are in the window as they are.

Unfortunately for them, you're right. My information is that they are watching this thread – now heading towards 6,000 views.

My straightforward recommendation to Ersan & Co. is to:

  • drop the legal challenge;
  • switch off the videos;
  • remove the screens

Until the screens are physically removed, there will remain the suspicion that they're waiting for the heat to die down before re-starting.

They should understand that their conduct – as well as aggravating local opinion – also tends to embarrass the local Labour Party, not that that's a problem for me.

Thank you Clive for your continued support you have offered Ersan's some excellent advice.

It seems such a shame that Ersan's who were so warmly welcomed by our community and especially by our police force for their efforts

(see link at 20:20mins) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9uqpXUYc9s

now demonstrate such a flagrant disregard for Haringey Council, and the wishes of the community. If they continue with the legal challenge they face the prospect of embarrassing other parties too but most of all they embarrass themselves whatever the outcome.

Ego can sometimes get in the way of reason, unfortunately...

To what are you referring? Perhaps some incontinuity? I'm not following the thread here.

Apologies I think I understand.

I noticed yesterday that Ersan's had turned off one screen the one facing the Salisbury pub. Today, both were off this afternoon. Is it possible that Ersan's are doing the right thing?

Is it possible that Ersan's are doing the right thing?

It is always possible, but they've been switched off before. Then on again.  I won't be inclined to believe it until we see both big video screens removed.

I see this thread has now cleared 6,000 views. It's not the sort of publicity I'd seek.

While you're referring to publicity, Clive, I'll mention that Ersan's website has a couple of pictures of their office.

The old one, on Willoughby Road. Suggestions why on a postcard please!
