Epson ink jet printer free but needs a repair

I have an Epson ink jet printer (XP 8605) that I'd like to pass on to anyone who can get it to recognise that, despite saying that the black cartridge needs replacing, it does in fact have full cartridges. If you are techy or know someone who is, it might be an easy fix. Otherwise, will presumably cost a bit to get working. It will need a power cable and the USB connection too. However, the scanner works fine and there are a few unused, compatible colour cartridges to go with it. Perhaps this isn't such a great deal but if anyone fancies having it - even if just to use as a scanner, please get in touch.
