Energy Saviour - door knocking

Just an alert - there were a number of guys out knocking on doors today from a company called Energy Saviour. The two things they said that seemed a bit dodgy to me were: a) we can get you a free boiler (when I asked whether this was restricted to lower income homes the guysactually said that his company was funding anyone's installation!); b) that all this effort was because we live in a high emissions zone...

I asked him for some literature but all he could give me was his name and number on a scrappy bit of paper. The company he claimed to represent is this one:

I'm hoping that I just got a slightly over-enthusiastic new recruit, but has anyone else had a visit? My guess is that, at worst, they will lead people up the garden path before they realise that they aren't getting a new boiler for free - anyone have any experience?

Hey Alison. It is true we do live in a high emission area and for some reason this means there is extra funding available. We got our loft insulation done some time back as a result.

So, there may be some element of truth in it, but it is a bit wonky that he cannot give you more than a note on a scrap of paper. As a minimum he should have some ID... Personally, I would not let them in, especially as a new boiler could be a bit of a stretch. It might be that some folks with some older boilers may qualify, or it could be a hard sell...
