Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The column and beacon on the outside of the bend (that is, the more visible of the two) has been removed - and the hole in the pavement neatly filled in - in the last few days.

Anyone know anything, particularly when it will be replaced - I  assume a vehicle hit it? Tell me it wasn't a casualty of the Arctic Monkeys.....

Last autumn both black-and-white striped columns and orange flashing Belisha beacons were renewed - there was discussion and action here about it. Somewhat ironic then that the old, tatty one survived for decades - the new one has lasted six months.

I'll make some enquiries and see what I can find out.

Thanks Karen, we have both been here before.....

PS Off-topic: that Pullman train is back on Wednesday around 0840.

I think there was a serious car accident at the crossing 2-3 weeks back, and I'm guessing the beacon was badly damaged and removed. The police closed off the whole road.

Seems odd to not bother replacing it though.

Hi Gordon

I have asked officers for information on when the beacon will be replaced and will post as soon as I have the information.

Cllr Emine Ibrahim

Did you ever get an answer from the council about the missing 7.5T signs at the North end of Wightman ?

And cyclists, vans, lorries and buses.

Endymion Road should be 20mph. I have had several conversations over the years with the council but it hasn't happened so far. You can count in your Harringay Libdem action team to continue to campaign for this and we will renew efforts to make it a reality.

*Cough* now the elections are over?

Good to see so much information and action about the crossing itself.

Hi Gordon
I have just received a response. As Joss said the beacon was damaged and unstable after the accident and had to be removed. Officers have promised that the beacon will be replaced by the end of this week.
Cllr Emine Ibrahim
Thanks Emine, yes it's been replaced now.

So -

Did you ever get an answer from the council about the missing 7.5T signs at the North end of Wightman ?

You said you would contact John Bevan.

Hi John - I have requested that it be replaced and am awaiting a date.

Cllr Emine Ibrahim
