TCV is the UK’s leading practical conservation charity working with people from all sectors of the community in positive action to improve the environment.
Natural Networks is a new project which will develop skills to facilitate the 'green network' of sites considered essential for the effective conservation of biodiversity, creating a UK wide web of expertise in managing and engaging people in ecological networks.
The Haringey Natural Network co-ordinator will liaise closely with the local community in the London Borough of Haringey to encourage BME communities to engage with their local green places and also work with members of the Haringey Friends of Parks Forum to develop a formal Natural Network.
In addition the Trainee will also engage with BME groups, especially Turkish and Kurdish communities as they are largely under-represented in the Friends Groups and green space volunteers in general.
You will need to have a basic knowledge of natural history and a commitment to conservation. Some experience of working with the public is essential and experience delivering environmental education, working with community groups or working with volunteers will be an advantage. You will be highly motivated and able to work efficiently without supervision. This role requires excellent communication and organisational skills and an aptitude for enthusing others to value, enjoy and protect our natural heritage.
Natural Networks is supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund.
