Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

As per here.

Went to Durazzo, in between Falkland and Frobisher, today as we saw it when we walked to TPL tube earlier and decided to try it out as I've been hoping for more breadth of establishments opening up this end of Green Lanes.

Very well presented inside, very attentive staff and honest prices. Chef came over and introduced himself to us and he is indeed Albanian, however said that he and his business partner worked for some years in a true bred Italian restaurant. They have been open for four days.

Food is good, nothing to set the world on fire. Tasty and substantial and great as an alternative place to eat on a weekday. Prices are approx £6-7 for Pasta, £7-8 for Pizza (large) and £9-10 for Entrees.

The chef gave us a menu so we can order and stroll down the road to pickup, which is something we will do if we want takeaway Pizza to support the place.

Free Amaretto always helps

I'm not Italian

We bought takeaway on Saturday to recce the place for one of our kid's birthdays, which is coming up soon. If you take along a dozen people you obviously want to be as sure as you can that it's going to be a good spot for lunch/dinner.

Bought two pizzas (the base was under cooked and quite salty)

Calamari (under cooked)

Salad ( overall it was tasteless and the various veg not ripe and tasteless)

£25

Really disappointed! Birthday will probably be at the tried & tested Selale.

I really had high hopes reading about Durazzo on this website .  We visited about 3 weeks ago and while the staff were lovely - the quality of the food wasn't great at all and that in itself makes it an expensive meal.

Another mediocre restaurant in Green Lanes and Green Lanes is full of mediocre restaurants and I've tried most of them.

I'll give Selale a try, as I miss Flame, but I only want to go to a Turkish restaurant every 6 weeks or so.  I've found if you eat out more than once a month and want a decent meal you have to go out of borough, which has always been my experience in the 30 years I've lived here.

I went with friends last Friday for lunch - it was really really good. The pizza was delicious and the kids all had spagetti in a tomato sauce which was amazing.

The staff were lovely and gave us free garlic bread and a limoncelo at the end. Plus the house red is spot on. I can't wait to go back - the veggie pizza was totally amaaazing!! Try it........

Another positive review from our visit at the weekend. Had pasta and an enormous calzone, and both were excellent.

We were also persuaded to try the homemade tiramisu for dessert, which was exceptionally good (and a bargain at only £3).

The restaurant is now on the web at Durazzo.co.uk and on Twitter as @DurazzoPizzeria. Links to their Google and Facebook pages are on their website.

My family ate there for the third time today. Lunch for under £12 for three people. You really can't go wrong.

Durazzo is run by Albanians.
Is that a problem for you?

I was wondering the same thing. That comment seems so unnecessary.

Not a problem with me.
Problem with the people reading my comment.

I've been meaning to go there for ages, it sounds great. I tried booking a table before Christmas but they never seemed to answer the phone. You've made me resolve to give it another go.

While on the subject of good Italian restaurants, there is a great one on Crouch Hill, just below the train station. Fantastic home made pasta.
