Hi!
Some of you may be aware, council is seeking views of residents about issues such as traffic congestion, rat-running, active travel, air quality and so on. I’m a member of a residents group based in Ducketts Green, set up to engage with council about these things where they affect our neighbourhood around Langham Rd, and we feel that the more of us show that we’re concerned about these things, the better.
One way that we can contribute is here; https://tottenhambrucegroveltn.commonplace.is/comment
It’s a map of the area, including Langham Rd. It works really well, you can drop a pin and leave comments about particular intersections, ask for a zebra crossing, whatever. Some of you may have seen our signs at the intersection of Belmont and Langham Rd, we feel it is a particular concern for us, and we hope to see it made safer.
There’s more to read about their plans on these sites, but suffice to say we expect some changes this year to enable residents all across Haringey to get around more easily, and reduce the impact of through traffic using our neighbourhood as a short-cut.
There is another survey you might like to get involved in about the St Anns area which includes West Green Rd at https://stannsltnmap.commonplace.is/comments
FYI the maps are only live until Sunday 7th!
If you want to get more involved, our group is called Duckett’s Green Healthy Streets, we are engaging with council to look at ways we can make the neighbourhood better for all, dm me and I can get you in the group.
In the meantime, we have a Twitter feed where we are posting about all of this; @duckettsgreenHS
Cheers!

Oh well, more road closures I guess.
I really feel so sorry for my neighbours on west green rd, st Ann's, black boy lane and green lanes. They really are going to get chucked under the bus, and what an insular place this borough is going to become. "Little boxes"
Sorry Jono, I don't mean to put a downer on your post, you're obviously very keen to have your area closed down and I know (from the responses on the maps) that so are lots of others, it is going to happen. But I just feel saddened.
Hi Andy, really not a problem, I understand not everyone is in favour of these schemes.
To be clear; I'm not keen to have my road closed, and I've not seen any comments on the Commonplace site ask for an area to be closed down. Lots of people have left comments about things like trying to cross the road.
I believe that building interventions to restrict through traffic from residential roads will benefit everybody.
For evidence, this is the newest example; https://love.lambeth.gov.uk/new-independent-analysis-shows-traffic-...
The headline from that research is "an overall reduction in traffic of 27% across the whole area" That whole area means main roads bordering those which have been filtered.
If you would be kind enough to clarify your concerns about your neighbours, I'd be happy to address them if I haven't, but I do understand that some people are just not keen.
It's probably just me being curmudgeonly. Change is change, not nessesarily a bad thing. But a lot of the roads around here seem to me to be very quiet roads anyway. I live on one of the busier roads in St Ann's and am pleased my road can take some of the pressure off others when needed. The stabbing on WGR last week being an example. WGR closed and my road helps ease the pressure, as it does everyday for others roads.
Black Boy Lane at least is likely to benefit from this being inside one of the LTNs.
The latest studies, which I was quite surprised by, show traffic decreasing on the boundary roads as well as in the LTNs. That kind of thing happening round here would be positive.
I'm also a little torn on this, I'm not in one of the proposed LTNs and they may well cause the traffic on my road to get worse.
However, Haringey have been poor for years and years at doing anything about the domination of motor vehicles in the area. This at least is the start of addressing the problem and I fear that if people push back against it because it isn't perfect then the status quo will continue and I don't think many people want that.
Let's be honest, it's not as if Green Lanes, West Green Road, etc don't already provide barriers between these neighbourhoods, introducing these LTNs isn't suddenly going to make pleasant roads unpleasant, those roads already need fixing. Lots of the comments are about speeding on those roads, difficulty in crossing them, etc.
There will always be push back Andrew, you cant please all the people etc etc. for my part I'll take the lesson from Cnut. The tide is turning - so it's happening, Re speeding that is always going to be a problem. Always has been always will be, ask anyone who has speed bumps outside.
