Just done exactly this for a bathroom for less than £400. I had the same problem in being quoted silly money. Will message you Gavin Hunt's details who did the job for me.

that is very very costly! 

The window you are talking about costs between £50-£90 retail price not even trade! which would be much less. the problem is because its such a small job everyone will overcharge you. 

I had one done on my property 2 years ago - however it was done with another two windows. i paid £200 alone for the bathroom window. i do think you should  call a few more companies first or even a handyman who could help. 

I used Diamond double glazing but they have since closed. Try Lordship lane windows

Agree with Peter- these cost nothing to buy- you just need a general builder or good handyman willing to do it. Maybe fit in with some other jobs you need done.

Try Gavorn Francis: 07507 336 734. I have known him for years; aswell as being an excellent builder, he prices really fairly.
