Two young men just rang my doorbell, dressed in jackets emblazoned with the logo"get switching". I have a "No sales calls" notice on my front door - they assured me they were not selling anything but that because of my postcode I 'qualified' to have a free assessment of my gas and electricity bills. I told them no thank you and shut the door, but I suspect they are another example of a power company's dodgy sales tactics or else some government intitiative to make it look like they are tackling the cost of utilities. Any ideas?

I thought it was this campaign but possibly not as it seems to be an online registrations (have only skim read tbh)
I think that the "Get Switching" pair who called with me were somewhat delayed New Labour Tory Koberistas. My Lib-Dem posters are still festooning my front window, so perhaps they were on a desperate last-minute mission to redeem my political soul.
On a quick look getswitching.com is a basic price-comparison website, it seems to be the front end of an outfit called Energylinx. You have to give your full postcode before you do anything else - N8 (say) isn't specific enough. Further than that I haven't gone. It says it's a free service, they get a small marketing fee from the successful supplier.
We've had them knock twice today. Annoying the first time, quite infuriating the second.
