Ooooh now we are moving onto a subject I loveeee! Real power

It is possibly not the public who overestimates the powers of local council, but indeed councils/[some] councillors who portray this power that isnt there, thus often leaving themselves open to criticism on decisions they did not take, just merely administered.

Sometimes I wish people would just be honest, a bit like how you are about what really happens in our democratic structure. Alas, you also face criticism of ppl saying you critique rather than do, not realise you are saying you have no power.

I was called an idealist the other day, which I was happy to own... I ideally just want real democracy!

Seema,

I think I'm 100% with you: we give away our power: voting every 4 years is hardly 'representative'. We cannot just sot back and criticise our councilors unless we are willing to participate?
