Royal Mail claim that they repaint post boxes every five years. Walking past one on Green Lanes today, I noticed that it was in a really bad state. Quit apart from it resembling a mini leaning tower of Harringay, the paint is flaking so much that the post box is beginning to rust.
Harringay (all parts including N4, N8 and N15) now has 14 post boxes. I think it would be a real shame to lose any of these.

On my way home, I walked a different way and spotted another problem post box.
The box at the bottom of Raleigh is graffitied and again rusting, this time towards the bottom.

I'll try and get in touch with Royal Mail and see if these can't be attended to before they rot away or fall over.

First used postbox.appearance@royalmail.com in March 2017 about Turnpike Lane postbox being shabby. Received response following day saying N8 postboxes were scheduled for painting in the new financial year. Sent another email about a postbox in N2 with graffiti on it and was assured cleaning would be actioned in 7 days. Used same email address in May 2021 about an NW2 post box (re: graffiti). Auto-reply said use postbox.appearance@royalmailpfs.com address. Then quick reply saying job logged. Sent another email to this address in Sept. 2021 about a different NW2 postbox and also last month about an NW10 postbox, re: graffiti. Quick response saying repaint job logged.
Thanks. Do you know if any action was taken as a result?
They'd probably rather we didn't use them, then they wouldn't have mail to stockpile in the sorting centre...
'Price of first class stamps to rise to 95p'
That's a 10p increase, or 11.7%. Enough to paint quite a few postboxes!
Full story here, posted by the BBC an hour ago.
Also, before you bulk buy at today's price, be aware that they are changing the stamps as of 2022 to be barcoded and older stamps will no longer be valid.https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/uk-news/warning-over-u...
No consolation, but those I walked past in Hackney today are in an equally parlous state.
The one at the top of West Green Road, near the end of Green Lanes, is unfortunately the same.
Received this morning.
My response (data taken from the unedited version of the list used as the source for the one attached to my original post, which is a Royal Mail list generated in response to an FOI request published online).

Hugh, I missed this a few days ago. The Post Box, top end of Mattison rd, jct with Wightman, is like a twin brother of the one you showed on Green Lanes: leaning at similar angle, paintwork all around the 'cap' badly deteriorated; so too the base section; all paintwork faded, no longer 'Post Office Red'; tarmac and foundation very far gone. The whole pillar will disappear into a sinkhole in the next year or two. The response from Gillian above is a poor substitute for regular inspection and refurbishment by those responsible. They say the post boxes are repainted on a cycle. Suggest their painter gets off his cycle to do a better job.
Eddie, I've forwarded your comments to Gillian along with the necessary identifying info for the post box.
Many thanks, Hugh, for including us in - both our local boxes I mean.
