Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

According to a LibDem message emailed today :-

Local LibDem Councillors were very concerned about the cuts and knew there were other ways to make the savings so called for a review. A cross-party scrutiny committee agreed  ( the Liberal ) recommendations to save services only a few days before the main Council meeting.

But unfortunately, at the meeting on Monday night, all the Labour councillors who were present voted the cuts through – and rejected the Liberal Democrat ( proposals ) to save services and invest in the borough.

They rejected the scrutiny committee recommendations, too.

Could our Harringay Labour councillors say whether they voted against the recommendations of the Scrutiny Committee, and if so, why ?

All the Labour councillors were whipped to vote for the budget proposed by the leadership. They all did.

As I understand it, one of our Harringay councillors was on the scrutiny panel, supported the Libdem recommendations to save services but then voted for the cuts on Monday evening. Is this a trust issue or a "backbone" issue? Residents can decide. I would like an explaination.

Thanks Liz. Well done to the producers

Shame on Haringey Council for not listening.

Pity the last Council speaker ( Cllr Waters ) wasn't given more time to properly hang herself

I have had a courteous answer from Gina. She wasn't able to attend the Council meeting because of a bereavement.

But neither James Ryan nor Emine Ibrahim have bothered to reply to my email.

Perhaps they felt they didn't have an adequate excuse ?
