Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

This from the HFRA:

The Council is preparing new planning and development policies, known as the Local Development Framework (LDF): Core Strategy. They are almost certainly going out for public consultation from April 19th until May 28th 2010.

The consultation documents (when finally approved for consultation by the Council's Cabinet on March 23rd) will set out policy proposals on how the borough will manage issues of housing, climate change, transport, employment, leisure, retail, open space, and design from 2011 up until 2026.

This is a new process and we all need to get on top of it! More information, and the previous LDF draft documents can be found on Haringey Council's website.  As an example of how groups can respond to these type of documents, the Haringey Federation's detailed response to the original draft LDF Core Strategy can be read here.

There will be a conference to discuss this. The aim of the conference will be to:
  • explain the LDF documentation and process
  • identify the key areas of potential concern and controversy
  • encourage networking and co-ordination among concerned individuals and community organisations
We have invited representatives from the Council's Planning Department to explain the LDF and related issues and answer questions. Hopefully some conference participants will have had a chance to check out some of the key documentation in advance, and identify some of their concerns and proposals for improving the proposed policies.

If you can attend, please let us know beforehand if possible.

best wishes
