Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Further to my post last week, Haringey Council have today started a consultation for the Trader and GLA led project to spruce up Harringay's stretch of Green Lanes.

A copy of a six-page fold out document detailing the options for consultation is being posted through the letter boxes of Harringay residents today.

If you're a home and you've seen it, what do you think? Do you like the lights on top of the Salisbury?

I don't think a one way down Wightman is a solution; it is a residential B road that has small and sharp turnings which are unsuitable for many larger vehicles. Imagine a juggernaut attempting the mini roundabout?

We need to stop shunting all the problems onto our closest neighbours roads.

Textured surfaces are used across Europe to slow down traffic (GL). Offering parking to the traders is vital but masquerading them as pedestrian space and taking away the bus lanes will mean more congestion in my opinion. Heavier congestion will only make the place less appealing and with two lanes of traffic, I fear that is wear we are heading.

I don't envy the planners as it is an impossible task to please us all and find a solution that is better than we have now.

Could we trial traffic free Sundays (except buses)?

Woodgreen manages to have busy and vibrant shopping without all the worry about car drivers having to walk a little way to their cars in their car park with their shopping. On Turnpike Lane the shop staff even wheel heavy shopping for their customers to their cars.

Loads of cheap car parking at Wood Green, but only 17% of people shopping there arrive by car. Considering GL has 'only expensive bays' I wonder what the figure is for there?

personally I think we need to revisit the all day CPZ..

I like the proposals, but what we really need imo is a diagonal crossing at Warham / Salisbury Road. I've designed one that I'm going to stick on a new post now...

am suprised that Railway fields isnt given more prominence, as its probably the only green space on GL besides Ducketts, a wasted opportunity?

We got our consultation document last week - we like some parts of the proposal and aren't so keen on others.  We've filled out the form and sent it back rather than post all the pros and cons on here.

how about this for a bridge?

it's in Wuppertal, Germany and done by a street artist called Megx.

That's great fun.

Love it. Amazing the way people visualise things. "Meccano" should sponsor an English bridge.
