Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The following from the Woodlands Park Road RA Yahoo Group:

I am writing to let you all know about a project that is in the planning stages for a community Cafe to operate out of the Salvation Army Hall on Terront Rd.

This is a community based project and the aims are to provide healthy affordable lunches to the N15 community. We will be open 1 day per week initially but will be looking to extend this as soon as we can. Once the cafe is open we will be teaming up with Fare share a food redistribution charity that reuses food that would otherwise have gone into landfill.

We want to involve the local residents and community as much as possible in this project and will be looking for volunteers to help run the cafe once it is open and also for local residents to come and use the space as well.

We are running a pilot cafe every Friday in March - 2nd, 9th,16th, 23rd to test the idea and give people a chance to get a feel for what we are going to do.

This will be £5 per week for a delicious hot main course, with a dessert and drink, kids eat free. If you are interested to find out more or would like to sign up for the pilot scheme in March please drop me an email. As we have not yet secured finding for the project as a whole, we would prefer if people could sign up for all 4 and pay in advance as this will allow us to manage the cash flow situation.

I hope you all find this of interest, we are keen to hear what people think about the idea.

I have attached a menu to have a look at as well.

I was lucky enough to get down to one of their lunches last Friday and it was fantastic - highly recommended. The cooking was top-notch, the kids had fun, brill. The pilot was a success apparently so they are back again on May 11th and hoping to be a permanent fixture by September. Definitely get down there if you can - you don't need to book, though it was pretty full!  I've written a full review on my blog here if anyone is interested: http://londinimum.wordpress.com/2012/03/26/new-community-cafe-in-n15/
