Good news for users of Downhills Park this summer as a community cafe with a difference opens.
The café is a joint project involving Haringey Council and HAIL (the Haringey Association for Independent Living) with support from the Friends of Downhills Park.
Apart from a new community facility, the café will also be used to give training and employment opportunities for local people with learning disabilities.
It is run by HAIL who have been based in Haringey for over 25 years and have experience in creating social enterprise for vulnerable adults.
Lydia Jones from HAIL said:
“This is a great example of the local community working together to create a much-needed local resource as well as providing employment opportunities for vulnerable adults.”
The new café was opened by TV star Cliff Parisi.
