I spoke to the council, I think it was about £120 to visit at 3 week intervals and they are good at explaining what you need to do. Bit of a faff to remove bath panel etc and move furniture but they haven't been back since and it's been 2 years.

Every few years we have this problem too. Its cheaper to do it yourself. Local shops sell small cardboard sticky traps which you place around the edge of the kitchen, they prefer the kitchen for obvious reasons and you will eventually get them all. In the short term spray the bold ones, local shops also sell a spray which is fairly instant.

We used the council, and they were great. Your neighbours need to do that too, if you have them, your neighbours will too..

I managed to get rid of the ones which were sitting tenants when we moved in to our place with a combination of Raid, which I sprayed around the edge of the 2 rooms that seemed to be the most affected (kitchen and bathroom), and by placing glue traps under the kitchen cupboards. I also took great pleasure in Raiding any individuals I happened to find - it kills them instantly (a Buddhist I am not). It took about 6 weeks but haven't seen one since (and have been here almost 3 years now)....touch wood.

I agree with Annette in this one thing the council are amazing efficient, thorough and helpful. Made the mistake of going to a private vermin company first who charged an arm and a leg and it didnt work. Council much much cheaper- i guess it's in their interests to doa good job. And essential to get neighbours done around same time. Never seen any since which is good as it is a huge phobia.
