Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I have a full set of cloth nappies that both of my kids used as infants. They are (clean and in reasonable condition-before anyone pipes up) sat in my loft store at the moment and I am looking to see if I can sell them as they were not cheap, and I would be happy if they went on to some productive use.

Does anyone have a view as to whether this is something that can be sold on say ebay? Not sure if anyone looking for nappies would go for something like this? They are in fairly good condition, but obviously they have seen 2 kids through their infancy so not perfect.

Any views would be welcome as I really am not sure about what to do with them.

I have seen cloth nappies on ebay but i think that they are usually in very good condition on there. Which ones are they? If they are a well known brand, I would put them on ebay!

Hi Justin,

As someone who has just started using cloth nappies on my newborn son, I'd say there is definitely a market for second hand, it'll just depend on their condition compared to others on sale at the same time. What brand are they?  If its a brand still popular, or particular patterns of wrap etc, they may attract more attention than you'd think - it appears from my research that cloth nappy users can get a bit obsessive about different styles and looks!  I've bought a mix of second hand and new ones for my little guy.

You could also try searching for the more specialist cloth nappy sites which have a classifieds section, like http://www.clothnappytree.com/. Or try selling at an NCT Nearly New Sale http://www.nct.org.uk/get-involved/fundraising-activities/nct-nearl... - the last sale I went to in Crouch End was very busy. Not sure if you have to be a current member to sell or not.

Or give them a go on here?

That is a good question as to whether they are from a known brand- I am not a nappy expert by any stretch. I went back to the original catalogue to see who they were, and given it is from 2004 I did wonder if they are still around- see the image attached. Modern Baby. Nothing came up when I Googled them...

They are not pristine as you might imagine, there is a bit of staining on some that we have never got out even with the most aggressive cleaning, but they are healthy clean if that makes sense and perfectly functional. The wraps are 50:50 neutral and pink. My daughter was born first and my son suffered the fate of pink nappies for 2 1/2 years.

Thanks for the links/ tips. I will check them out. I guess I need to count up what I have and see I may post something here to see if someone wants them. Good suggestion. If that does not work I will give ebay a crack.
