Hi there
I am in the process of planning my daughter's fifth birthday party and wondered if anyone out there had suggestions of local halls/ venues. Its quite short notice, being early. I want to be able to invite at least 20ish kids and not spend a fortune if at all possible. We will probably self cater. I have looked into the Sobell centre, which is quite an attractive option but I would love to hear from any of you neighbours who have had parties there. Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks x

The Hideaway on Ennis Rd N4 (which is part of Stroud Green Primary School) is available for hire on weekends - plenty of room for the numbers you suggest, kitchen with cooker, microwave & fridge, outside space for if it's a nice day, kid-size tables, chairs & loos. Happy to put you in touch with the manager if you'd like.
I'm sure the same question has been asked before - eg http://www.harringayonline.com/forum/topics/birthday-party-venue-hire Try a search.
Chestnuts Primary School now hire out spaces for children's parties, it costs about £30 per hour. Speak to Tara in the main office and I'm sure they would be able to show you round.
We hired the hall at the top of Cavendish Road (Little Jewels Nursery) for our sons 5th birthday...its a great space and has a kitchen etc. As I recall it was very reasonable pricewise.
Thanks for all the suggestions!
The Burghley Road Under 5s Community Centre is a great venue for parties. It has two good sized indoor rooms as well as a secure courtyard. I think it's about £80 for the day plus refundable deposit. Call 0208 260 7954 Tues to Fri between 1030 and 2pm or email william.reevejones@yahoo.co.uk
Thanks!

We have had 3 successful self-catered parties at the Pirate's Playhouse on Green Lanes, which is surprisingly reasonable cost per head. They get 1.5 hours in the soft play (from memory) - it was around £4 a head I think, though it went up recently. Then it was £25 to have a room upstairs to do the food in, which they just let you handle yourself. And there's an area for lingering parents to have a coffee and a chat.
Well you are pretty overwhelmed with options, but you could consider
The South Harringay Pool building on Mattison Road has spaces to hire - it is a very beautiful building on the alley and houses the swimming pool as well as amazing upstairs space. All enquiries to Michael Gordon Caretaker mgordon@shjs.haringey.sch.uk.
