Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

There is a large-ish housing block called Chettle Court on the west side of the railway line (i.e. the side further away from Green Lanes) a bit north of Harringay station, at the end of Ridge Road: I think it was built in the 1970s, I am sure it was not built when my family moved away from Ridge Road in June 1971. I have been trying to find out where the name came from, and I have dug up a bit of information, it's mainly family history rather than local history. If anyone on this forum is interested in ithe name, post a reply to this message and I will tidy up my notes and post them.

Hi Peter, I'd be interested. Cheers.

The block is named after Henry Chettle, who was the headmaster of the Stationers' Company's School from 1881 to 1913.

Peter added his research here.
