We are looking for a Chartered Surveyor with local knowledge to provide a freehold valuation. If anyone has any recommendations or recent experience of purchasing their freehold we'd be very interested.
Thanks in advance

Colin Rickard really good and local Google him
and really fair honest advice
Hi Monica
Im a lawyer who specialises in this kind of work. I work with valuers daily and in my experience a general surveyor is often not a good idea. Instruct a valuation surveyor who only does lease extension / enfranchisement work.
I don’t really subscribe to the view point that you need someone local, but if you did want someone local Chris Stone at Prickett and Ellis is probably the best known.
assuming you are talking about a collective enfranchisement for flats with leases over 80 years it probably doesn’t matter too much. If any of the leases are short (under 80 years) or this is the enfranchisement of a leasehold house, get someone top notch. Happy to give some names depending on what it is you are looking to do.
Thanks for your advice and recommendation Rob. We are leaseholders, there are 2 x flats in a converted house, freeholder is an individual. Don't think this falls into category you refer to of enfranchisement of a house, or does it ? Leases are not under 80. The names we have followed up all have experience of valuations.
Hi Monica
that sounds straightforward enough so I’m sure as long as you chose someone who has experience in this field it will be fine. Doesn’t sound like you need a leading light in the sector! The only thing that will up for negotiation will be the capital values of the flats really.
good luck!
I used Extend Now (extendnow.co.uk), part of chartered surveyors Gilmartin Ley and based in Highgate, and was happy with the outcome; despite a tricky negotiation, the outcome was within a whisker of the settlement predicted, so I felt they knew their stuff.
