How to Change Car on Resident's Permit?
Does anyone have any experience of changing the car on your resident's permit? From what I can see you can apply online, but to get any refund/adjustment on the old permit you have to return it first. Does this mean by post?
Is it better to go and do it in person at the library, if indeed they are allowing this still? I don't want to end up without a permit for weeks.

I just went up to the customer service place up at the library - I made sure I was there before it opened and the wait was not too bad. It was easy - I had the proof of purchase of the car and was given a new permit and refund on the old one.
But this was pre-covid.

Your can't get this done at the library any more, as I tried. I have an estate permit, so it's not quite the same process, but the gist was pay online, supplying the paperwork via photos and hope the resident permit turns up before you run out of visitor permits/bankrupt yourself from using them

Have you got your new V5 document from the DVLA?
I was told I couldn’t get the new permit until I was able to scan in the new V5.
I put a note in my car windscreen along with my old permit and I didn’t get a ticket.

Hi Maddy. Back in August I just couldn't get into my account to change my parking permit and I contacted @contactharingey on Twitter and it was all sorted in half an hour and they emailed me my parking permit.
It really works!

I submitted all the paperwork first thing Monday, then Tweeted today (once I'd worked out how!) to check progress. Just got back a reply saying allow 5 working days, and not to park without permits as I will get a ticket.
It's a bit outrageous to have to use 55 hours of visitor permits (it takes 11 per day, or a day permit) for a period which I have already in fact paid for - previously you could do it on the spot at the library. And that's assuming the permit actually turns up.

Whatever you do don't ring them about it, as you'll only increase your frustration! (My experience: Call 1 - 40 minutes on hold, only to have the phone put down on me, call 2 - 40 minutes on hold, then the operator put me through to the wrong department, which read me a recorded message and then cut me off)
Also, DM me if you don't have enough permits - I may have overreacted to my earlier similar situation

I got a quick reply to my tweet, even though it wasn't what I wanted to hear. Don't think they are taking phone calls nowadays.

Finally got it sorted this afternoon ( Day 5) by phoning the council - I got through quickly to a very helpful person who cancelled the old permit and issued a new one straight away. Now I have to return the old one by post (strange, since I printed it at home) to receive a refund.
On the positive side, my new permit costs much less than the old one, although I feel like billing them for the £20+ in visitor vouchers this palaver has cost me. At least Sainsbury's carpark has proved a useful haven for the odd few hours.

Got a new car last Friday and have been using visitors permits for a few days. Emailed Haringey via the link on the parking page of the website but it seemed like it was going to be the best part of a week before it got sorted.
Phoned Marcus Garvey Library ( 020 8489 2280) yesterday (Thursday) and got an appointment for today to get a new permit and a refund on the old one.
However, as I haven’t received the new owner log book from DVLA yet, they couldn’t process a new resident permit so I paid for a temporary permit (valid for a month).
The staff at Marcus Garvey were very efficient and polite and made the process easy enough.
Once the new owner docs arrive I’ll apply for a new permit online as usual.
