Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Cash grants of up to £5,000 available for community groups until March 2009

From the Haringey Independent
SMALL community groups and projects can apply to beat the credit crunch in the New Year with cash grants up for grabs.

The East London Community Foundation has £118,000 to hand out to groups in Haringey before March 2009.

As part of its grassroots initiative, community groups run by volunteers in Haringey can apply for grants of anything between £250 and £5,000.

A total of £377,460 will be available over the next three years.

The funding can be used for new or existing projects, for putting on one-off events or covering the running costs for a group’s activities.

Jessica Wanamaker, the chief executive of the foundation, urged local groups to apply for the cash.

She said: “This local endowment initiative is great news for Haringey.

“I urge those individuals and businesses who want to put something back and make a lasting difference in their local Haringey community to consider using this fund.

“There has never been a better and more cost effective way to give and to have the value of that gift more than double overnight.

Anyone who wants more information on how to apply for a grant should call the foundation on 0300 303 1203.
