Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

What are the cars that have been driving up and down Green Lanes tonight sounding their horns repeatedly and making a general racket celebrating? They were driving up and down Seven Sisters Road to Finsbury Park too. I could see there were young men in most of them waving some sort of flags but couldn't make out what was on them.

Nothing particularly exciting in the football today, is there?

Could they be Algerian folk celebrating a world cup qualifying win over Egypt? This article says they have thronged Finsbury Park.
ah the Algerian explanation sounds more likely than rampaging Irish or French fans.

Well congratulations to them anyway.

It's all quiet now at least
They think its all over.
It is now.
James, you really should consider joining Twitter. Tweeting while watching TV is a popular pastime over in Tweetland. Your pithy oneliners are perfect for its 140 character limit.
Well Elle, turns out there was a few footie matches going on tonight. :)
Acton Park probably had the same problem last week when New Zealand qualified for the World Cup.
If they were waving a lot of green flags and carrying a pair of nooses, they were just a bunch of my countrymen decrying this Parisian floodlight robbery as they prepared to hang Thierry Henri for his Maradonnish main de Dieu atrocity and the "referee" for being a blind and useless bastard.
Shocking Eddie, I really feel for the Irish supporters, but at least Blatter and Platinni are happy in rigging the seeds at a late stage. FIFA and their representatives are disgraceful and riddled with the wrong sort from the top down. All they need is a good reason to throw the English out and then they will be laughing.

Congratulations to Algeria mind.
Well at least they will be plenty of places on Green Lanes to have a flutter (or blow the week's wages) on the outcome.

To join our 7 luxury gaming halls, we may have an 8th right next to the post office.

Welcome to the Vegas of North London, but will there be free champagne cocktails and ladies in short skirts adding a touch of glamour to the World Cup on Green lanes in the Metrobet cocktail lounge...oh no, I drifted off there...it'll just be blokes sitting on plastic chairs gawping at a TV screen: gathering outside to smoke fags and drop the butts on the ground along with the screwed up betting slips and plastic pens and the odd armed robbery, or a bit of criminal damage x8 if we're lucky.
Odds on SA 2010

Spain - 9/2
Brazil - 9/2
England - 6/1
Argentina - 8/1
Germany - 12/1
Italy - 14/1
Netherlands - 14/1
France - 14/1
Portugal - 14/1
New Zealand - 500/1
Well NZ is worth a flutter. Now which of the smelly 7 bookies will give me better odds than that?

I'm guessing Betterbet's chairs are better than Metrobet's but what if the hellish William Hill behind the bus shelter offers me better odds for my child benefit?

I guess I could use the Ladbrokes' because I can see the buggy parked through their glass door and I can probably get a few of the smokers to keep an eye on him. Coral's is no good, I have to walk at least 200 yards to that one. Decisions, decisions. Living next to North London's Vegas strip is so exciting!
