Just passed a line of stationary traffic on Wightman as I cycled up to Turnpike Lane. Never seen the whole N-S length used as a car park like that before. I saw why as I turned into Hornsey High Street. The road was peppered with ballast and the whole road was closed off, road cleaners out, police and fire brigade. Turns out a water main has burst overnight just at the Church Lane junction with the high street. It does not look like it will be fixed soon!

My goodness - looks like there'a a mess to be cleaned up there.
Joys of old Water pipes under the continuing strain of current growing demands
Still remember when the Mains pipe in Green Lanes by the New River went
That was a real mess for ages
Issue is that they are under constant pressure, as having more water pumped through them than originally designed and built for
It's not as if they could run in New Larger pipes. Without effecting properties
I nearly put car-nage, but I thought that would be just a little too smug and clever. What would your preference have been?
Your headline caused me to react, Justin! If you had merely said a water main has burst, I probably wouldn't have given it a second glance.
Given we know pollution kills, the answer is, too soon to say.
