Saw the aftermath of this today! Bit scary as it brought back memories of Wood Green post-riot. Apparently not a story interesting enough to report as yet, however.
Oh, it's plenty interesting for a local paper - they just haven't got to it yet!
Looks like they'll have plenty of images for when they do
Four bags of pita £1.15, 10 lemons for quid great olives and feta, good veg and then there is the proper bakery next door. For those who like there shopping 'style over substance (and value)' there is Muswell Hill - for the sane folk round here its YH every time!
I second to Richard. A little surprised about the customer service, I must admit. They are always good to us though. Maybe uttering a few Turkish words for thank you and good bye works well for us?
I don't know about the cars, but I wanted to disagree with the last 2 comments about Yasr Halim as it so contrary to my experience and this shop is one of the reasons I love Harringay. I've always found the customer service really helpful: (1) once they were sold out of sesame on the shop side so they just gave a (large) bag of sesame for free from their bakery. (2) Another time I chatted with the owner about the possibility of getting organic milk and he phone his supplier while I was there to see if he could get it (which he couldn't, but still he tried). (3) And I've learned a lot about unfamiliar-to-me ingredients, like mulberry syrup or kolokas from the women (including the one with the amazing singing voice) at the tills.
Just in case you meant me, please allow me to clarify I never meant to project a negative view on Yasar Halim. They are the shining star of the parade. Their yeast is ace to bake breads with too!
