Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Can you give a child in Haringey a Christmas present through the #MetXmasTree campaign?

Every year the Met runs a campaign to give children, who may not otherwise get one, a Christmas present. It's just launched for this year and I know that some people on Harringay Online did it last year so I am putting the details on again.

There are 600+ local children on Haringey Police's list. The idea is very simple - you are allocated a child (told only age and gender and given a reference number), you then provide a present and deliver it unwrapped to the borough's police station in Tottenham marked with that reference number and the police will wrap and deliver to schools. I've just done my two allocated children, spent £6-7 on each.

Referrals come from the safeguarding staff at Haringey's schools and children can be referred for any number of reasons: loss of a parent or other bereavement, illness, parental divorce - basically children who have had a very tough year.

It's a good cause so take a look. But do note: you must be careful that you put your location/preferred drop off point as a Haringey postcode. If you just let the phone use your current location then you will just be allocated a child from whichever borough you happen to be at the time. Best bet is to put the Tottenham Police Station address in: 398 High Road, N17 9JA. Deadline is 7th December.

Yes! Just checked and that is fine. Please put the recipient down as Insp Jonathan Waterfield and put the child reference number you got next to his name so they know which child it refers to. Thanks so much.
