Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Does anyone know where I can get my Fuji Finepix F70 EXR repaired, as the colour has faded?

Apparently, the official Fuji repair company don't deal with this particular camera.

Are you sure there's no setting that you've accidentally changed? Worth checking things like any colour balance settings or auto colour mode settings.

If it is more than that, I wonder if you'd end up being better off buying another camera. Any fix will probably be over £100 and you'd be investing in technology that is probably a decade old already.

I don't know anything about your camera. But, I'm assuming it's a compact. You can get a used Fuji compact for a little over £100. If you're not that savvy about cameras, better to go to a reputable dealer rather than buying off eBay or Gumtree.

Thank you, Hugh, for your practical advice.

I will see if I can find something in the menu that refers to colour settings.

As Hugh says, unfortunately I'd definitely replace rather than paying for repair at that age - a more modern camera will produce much better images and have more features, but if you wanted exactly the same model a quick look on ebay shows you can get one for £40 (and I dare say if you hunted about you'd get one for less than half that). If you wanted to replace with another similar point & shoot of the same age I'd strongly recommend a Canon Ixus - they generally take great pics and are hard as nails (I carried one everywhere as a teenager getting into photography 20 years ago - oh god was it 20 years ago? I need to find the hard drive with those photos on...)

Thank you, Sixfaces, for your helpful message.

Just had a quick look at the manual. MIght be worth trying the reset option in the setup menu.

I thought I sent a reply to you, Ian, but something went wrong. Thank you for suggestion, but too technical for me. I have now bought an identical camera on ebay.

Thank you to everyone who tried to help me.

Probably in Tottenham Court Rd

I know the immediate problem’s been solved, but for future reference I’d strongly recommend Sendean Cameras (sendeancameras.co.uk), in Cross Street in Clerkenwell, who have repaired 35mm film and digital cameras and lenses for me in the past, and also have a limited selection of used cameras for sale.

So they're still going - thank you for that. When they left St Anne's Court in Soho I assumed they'd folded. Never assume!

I think I remember them in upstairs premises at the tatty end of Oxford Street at one point, too, so they’ve moved around quite a lot over the years!

I use them too Don and have had good service. There seems to be a minimum charge of £50.00 just to look at the thing but that's normal for a professional business. I'd agree however that unless it's a Leica compact a 10-year old camera isn't worth repairing.
