A quick heads up to all about a planning notice regarding the shop at 513 Green Lanes (the unit next to the old Post Office on the corner of Warham Road)
The proposed use is "an Adult Gaming Centre premises licence under Section 159 of the Gambling Act 2005".
In my experience, these types of establishment attract undesirables and bring nothing positive to the area. We have more than enough bookies along Green Lanes and we already have an adult gaming centre in the area.
The notice only went up this week but this application is not listed on the council website - I don't understand this, but the notice says objections can be submitted until 11th May so let's get busy

I always got the impression those establishments were excellent fronts for money laundering.
Thank you for posting this. It is quite important that if anyone does have objections that we write to the council.
i noticed the posted notification yesterday, and i must confess, i’m a tad confused..
it’s not an “official” planning notice - there is no coding on the notification, which will make it difficult to contact the council to object to the application. i’m sure that is deliberate.
also, is it usual to restrict the people who can “make representations in writing” to just two categories? it seems that this might deter people from objecting to the application.
The reason there's no planning reference is because it's a licencing application. Two different things.
This is Admiral Slots, a large company who have venues operating in Wood Green at 9 High Road and 117 High Rd
i think i'm missing something here... it looks like permission was refused, they reapplied, and it was granted.
am i wrong?

Looking at these links I can see that the original (refused) application was for a 24 hr operating licence.
The current application was granted for hours of business from 9:00 - 23:00.
As Chris has pointed out, these were planning applications. They have planning consent. They still need licensing consent, which is what the notice refers to.
I’ve spoken with Harringay’s resident licensing and planning expert and he tells me that he won’t be objecting if it’s got a licence to match the planning application hours. It will be awarded.
You - anyone in the neighbourhood because it does affect everyone in the neighbourhood - can & should still object on licencing grounds - even Betfred tried this!
My query is why the 'shop front' elevaton was approved to remove the elegant stone (? judging from Streetview fascias and partial stallriser ) and 'downshift' to mundane aluminium and plate glass.
