Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Should I share this with the world?

The carrot cake from Paprika is divine...serves me right if there's none left next time I go.

What's your baked pleasure from Harringay? What little treat do you grab for elevenses?

yes, the carrot cake there is great. Had a rather nice chestnut and chocolate cake as well which would be perfect around Christmas time.

A special mention for Paprika's poppy-seed strudel slices too, made with a yummy hint of lemon. Bought some for visiting family who said it was the best strudel they'd had this side of the Danube. Yasar Halim for tahinli; coiled yeast dough filled with sesame paste and honey. One tahinli = elevenses + breakfast + lunch.

Have you tried the Dobos cake?  My personal favourite - seven or eight layers of sponge and chocolate buttercream topped with hard caramel.  Nom.

Still searching for the perfect eclair, with custard rather than whipped cream inside. No luck yet.

Maison Blanc do them and better still they have chocolate mousse filled eclairs
Blimey, I'm going to have to go back to Paprika with a shopping list. Anyone care to join me for elevenses :) ?
Wheres Paprika? I eat cake - and lots of it
Paprika is what used to be called Danube, between Roseberry and Rutland. Map

Has anyone ever tried one of the big cakes (the ones displayed in the window) from Yasar Halim? They look great but I find at a lot of bakeries things often look a lot better than they actually taste. Although I've yet to buy anything from YH that I didn't like!

yes many times!  They are lovely, I can reccomend the sponge with fresh cream and fruit or my particular fave - the belgian chocolate.
That's me sold! How much do they cost?
yep - i second that! Yasars fresh cakes are lovely and i think start around £10 dependent on the size.

has anyone checked out Bubbles cupcakes? (they have a page on facebook...)

i saw them at the winchmore hill wedding show and ordered some for my sisters 30th....WOW! not only do they look amazing but they taste just as good! definitely better than hummingbirds and Lolas in selfridged which are dry compared to these.

and the best thing? they are based in harringay and offer free local delivery...hmmmm dribble dribble....!
