Hi all!
I'm new here. :) My partner and I are buying a new home in Haringey, on the Roundway. We know very little about the area and we are keen to find out more before committing to a lifelong mortgage. :)
A friend of the family mentioned that the Roundway is a busy through-road, but as much can be seen from the outside. The flat is quiet enough anyway and I appreciate having frequent buses nearby.
What is living there like? Is anyone here a resident on the Roundway or the nearby streets? We'd like to get a feel for what kind of neighbour community we are joining. Are there any events or venues we could attend in the next few months to get to know the area a little?
And in more detail, are people renting, owning, on a leasehold, on a freehold? Have you been modifying your homes and did you find the council cooperative? Anyone with a garden and pets? We have two cats who go out (a bit worried about that considering how busy the road is). Any experiences of crime or antisocial behaviour? Starting a family, nurseries, hospitals, kindergartens?
Anything else we should know? Keen to hear pretty much anything and everything! :)
Thank you ever so much in advance!

Hello Zuzanna, have sent pm request connection so can reply to you directly with link, hope that I can be of help and hope to hear back from you soon. And tbh, it's not the greatest part of town!
Its very noisy. Traffic starts at 5am and doesnt stop. Anti social punks with loud motorbikes and cars cause it to be worse than it should be. Police do nothing as usual... They only act on this in Mayfair... Crime in N17 is rife unfortunately. Roundway will be about 90% renters so you'll probably be neighbours to 30 people sharing... In and out all day and night. Live nearby and wouldn't recommend.... Sorry
Hi there, hopefully I can help or at least give some details on the area around there, I lived on Gospatrick Road which is on the left side of The Roundway as you come off of Lordship Lane. I was in a HMO though, and one of few private houses around there, as even the council told me, pretty much everything else is Council housing. As I picked up on early on. Not only the look of the houses brickwork/doors. But some of the people. There are a few useful shops on Lordship Lane near that side you are talking about, and a Launderette further down, which if you go around the back way you can get to quite easily. Crime wise I never heard of a lot to be honest. There was an attempted break in at ours which they then crossed over and went in that house instead, but it didn’t help that the lady had left the downstairs window open 🤷🏻♀️
The buses running along there are handy as you have noticed. And there is a Children’s centre on White Hart Lane, which I attended with my own baby. They also did baby weigh in’s there. They have a nursery too.
some schools near by, not sure of all the names, as I ended up moving to the other side of Tott.
Parks wise you have The Lordship Rec which is great, plenty of open space, but I wouldn’t go through there at night. Downhills Park can also be accessed from The Lordship Rec. But again I would not go through there at night either.
The Roundway itself, is as someone else has rightly said very busy, because it’s a major road for vehicles connecting to Great Cambridge. And also because of all the buses that run there.
