Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

It seems that two of the UK's largest waste management companies are not in agreement with the Cabinet Member for Environment and Conservation on the removal of the bottle banks from the streets of Haringey.

Veolia Environmental Services and SITA UK, echoing calls by glass industry body British Glass in July 2008 to bring banks back in place of commingled collections, are advocating the return of the bottle bank to ensure a better quality of material that can be recycled back to containers. At present, much of the glass material collected in commingled collections ends up in the roads and not as new jamjars and beer bottles.

The remarks of the companies and the response of the local authorities can be read here
