Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Which of the local bakeries would you recommend to get a personalized birthday cake by Saturday? I have seen a friend get a great football cake for his son. Big rectangular cake, not posh fine craftwork.
Thank you

Dunns in Crouch End.

I agree, Dunn's do this sort of thing better than anybody    not cheap but most enjoyable by all

We have a number of birthday cakes from Yasar Halim. Very good value, and rather nice.

Don't order by phone. 'And underneath that...'   http://www.joe-ks.com/archives_nov2007/UnderneathThatCake.htm

I've used Yasar Halim loads of times, they are cheap and cheerful and the cake always goes down a treat.  Got a quote from Dunn's once and it was £70 compared to £30 from Yasar's.  I'm sure the quality at Dunn's is oh so better but Yassar's cream, sponge and fruit did the trick every time

One of the nicest cakes I've had is from the cake shop on Turnpike lane - they are eggfree but are delicious - I got my son's cake from there last year and it was a football pitch - quite impressive.

I've heard good things about the Turnpike Lane baker     how big was your son's cake and how much was it - if you don't mind telling?

It was almost a year ago so can't quite remember but I think it either the 10" or the 12"....it seemed pretty big and there was loads to go round. It was really light and tasty - one of the nicest cakes I've had to be honest.

Thanks all. My  friend has also recommended Yasar Halim and I think the price difference with Dunns will swing it.
