It says in the linked article that ... the government’s plan to reduce the BLF’s share of lottery good cause funding from 50 per cent to 40 per cent.
If this is talking about increasing 'match funding' requirements then that would not be good news. As we move into the new era of austerity finding money for match funding requirements is going to get harder and therefore many projects won't even get off the ground.
Projects need to be 100% lottery funded.
The 50 areas getting this money will apparently be getting about £2m each, to distribute over 10 years, if the comment below the linked article is accurate. That's £200,000 pa for say a borough like Haringey. The current MtD budget for this borough is £350,000 pa (7 wards at £50,000 each). Is this proposed £200,000 enough?
Does anyone know how much the BLF gives away in total each year?
Regarding reducing the BLFs share, I think this refers not to match funding but to the total amount of the Lottery money which will go to the Big Lottery Fund as opposed to Sports, Heritage etc. The BLF has a vast and deeply confusing number of funds within it, many of which don't require match funding.
