Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Just seen the tent/s going up on Ducketts Common for this weekend's event - not content with allowing one end of the Common to be ruined by the circus, now they're letting the other end (right by the basketball courts) be overrun by thousands of beered up drinkers!
I don't like to be a party pooper, but that's the narrowest end of the Common and therefore incredibly close to all those living on Willoughby Road and the Ladder roads at that end - the noise is going to be intolerable. Who on earth at the council thought this was acceptable in such a built-up residential area?

I was saying the same last night, I've never seen events at the north end before. The original flyer had quite a large outdoor area with stalls, bars, etc. Not quite sure where they'll fit those.

I really think this should have taken place in Finsbury Park as us locals (and my son's school) are so used to nose, pish and vomit.

they have squeezed into that end as the other end still has not recovered looks out of place

I emailed the licensing dept at the council a while ago to ask them about the bierfest and who thought it was a good idea in such a small place and these are a couple of relevant excerpts of what I got back "The applicants have hired the Park for the proposed event and the Park Service are aware of the issues that have arisen following the occupation of the Circus Vegas." and "The application was advertised in line with the statutory requirements set out in the Licensing Act 2003, i.e, notices were placed around the park and in a local newspaper. There were no representations/objections received from residents in relation to this matter." So in answer to your question "who on earth at the council thought this was acceptable etc" I think they are going to say "we did everything by the book". But I never saw any notices either in papers or on the common itself.

I must admit that the first I saw of it was on here a few weeks back. Given that I walk past Ducketts Common twice a day the notices mustn't have been that obvious.

i walk through it twice a day exactly where it is so both entrances are blocked I did not see any notices, I would not have an issue with it if it was at the other end and not shoehorned in an unsuitable location

I had my path blocked as well. I walked around and it took me 30 seconds to walk round. It’s there a weekend - a little perspective is needed
