Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Just seen the tent/s going up on Ducketts Common for this weekend's event - not content with allowing one end of the Common to be ruined by the circus, now they're letting the other end (right by the basketball courts) be overrun by thousands of beered up drinkers!
I don't like to be a party pooper, but that's the narrowest end of the Common and therefore incredibly close to all those living on Willoughby Road and the Ladder roads at that end - the noise is going to be intolerable. Who on earth at the council thought this was acceptable in such a built-up residential area?

Exactly! We're going to fear the worst, hope for the best.

I think we agree here Darryl. Pint at the Salisbury on Saturday night instead?

Good idea John. NZers normally make idiots of themselves at proper Bierfeste in proper Germany.

It's not 'literally' on your doorstep. Just saying....

There's always one...

It was a figure of speech. Of course it's not literally on our doorstep. But too avoid any further nitpicking I've changed the headline.

Sounds like a normal day on Ducketts!

" nitpicking " is a figure of speech. Your use of " Literally " was not. It was either careless or ignorant.

Today is the day to make your feelings known in the ballot-box.

About the Beerfest?

I have a sneaking suspicion but can't prove it, that originally this was supposed to be at the other end of the common. It now can't be at the other end of the common because that's been turned into a mud bath. Speaking of mud baths, last night they were trying to get some very large trucks into the top of the common and... got stuck in the mud.

I think you're right. The site looks so cramped where it is that the organisers can't possibly have elected to host it at that end.
