Beware: Card Skimming in Crouch End

Last night I was unfortunately the victim of card skimming so just wanted to warn everyone.

I put my card into the Santander ATM machine on Crouch End Broadway and it retained it.  When I looked closer, it did look like there was some damage to the ATM slot but when the usual messages of "This Machine is Out of Order" etc. came up, I thought things may be ok and I would pick up my card when the branch opened this morning.  I was also aware of two guys separately hanging around the area of the ATM.

When I got home and checked my online banking, I discovered that several withdrawals had been made on my card instantly I left the ATM - to my daily total of £250.  When I called the bank, I was told that petrol and takeaway food has also been purchased.

I know we're always being told but really, if you notice anything in the slightest bit strange about the ATM (I did and wish I'd listened to my doubts now!!), then don't use it.  Although you get the cash refunded by your bank if you report it promptly, it's a huge pain in the posterior.
