Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Take your guess! Looks like the old travel agents next to the disco ice cream shop down from the Salisbury has closed and something new is being developed...

There isn't a decent Mexican place I have found yet in London. It won't even be a possibility until corn tortillas and cilantro are here (and coriander doesn't cut it). If you want a reference and ever make it to LA, check out Holy Guacamole on Santa Monica Main Street.

A fishmonger would be nice.

Mestizo in warren street is a very good Mexican.

Having read the reviews, we tried this for the first time a few weeks ago. I have to say we were extremely underwhelmed. I thought I might get tamales like I've had in Mexico, but was a bit disappointed there. The main courses were a real let-down. My other half had a hunk of meat that had clearly been warmed through but was still stone cold in the middle. Unappetising but also potentially dangerous.  We won't be going again.

The new Rusty Bike cafe on Crouch End (in the old Ohba Leaf) does Mexican in the evening and apparently has a Mexica chef. I plan to give it a try and will report back.

Seconded. It's the best Mexican food I've had on earth, not just in London. And that includes 3 trips to Mexico (MX City and all through Oaxaca), countless visits to all the best taquieras in LA/SF/SD/. Seriously good.

I love Mestizo too, it's always been the landmark standard here. Shame Hugh didn't have a good experience. We just get the taco tray as a rule.

" Cilantro redirects here" - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coriander.

You can buy genuine imported Mexican corn tortillas (frozen) and other Mexican specialities online here. They used to have a great shop in the East End but it's apparently closed down.

You probably mean culantro. Cilantro is US English for coriander. I think culantro is more used in Puerto Rico and Asia than in Mexican food though.

Try Moka in Wightman - what they do is a sort of South American/Mexican mix - been their twice in the last 2 weeks and I like it - it certainly brings somehting different to the area

The wooden frame makes me think restaurant

http://london.mestizomx.com/ they also have a branch in Mexico city, and is always full of Mexicans. so probably a good indicator! also has a Mexican night club downstairs on a Thursday. well worth checking out

did not know they were apart of this group though

I love it that you called it the "Disco" ice cream shop!

My daughter and I always refer to it as that too!
