Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

If you would like to be one of 70,000 Olympic volunteers you can apply from Sept 15th.

But don't think for a minute you'll be getting a couple of tickets to one of the events. Lord Coe said: ''No - that's the nature of volunteering.''

McDonalds will help to recruit and train the volunteers. So less about how to built that perfect Big Mac and more about meeting and greating our fellow earthlings after they've battled their way into London via Heathrow.

''Have a nice day'' (do want fries with that sir? ... oops sorry!)

Now what would a McDonald's Olympic training session involve I wonder? (apple turnover zappers need not apply)

Is there anyone on HOL giving this proposition serious consideration?

Apparently Ronald's for the high jump.

I'll never forgive Ken for this.
For what?
for the bluddy olympics.
What's not to like about having a major event happening in your city!?

I will indeed be volunteering if I can. I'd love visitors to the games to meet a friendly, non-cynical person as early as possible when they hit London. :)
Ask the people whose businesses were trashed, and those who loved the open land and allotments that have now gone for ever. We end up with a great stupid stadium that nobody wants, and a huge debt. Greece and Montreal are still paying off the debt years later.

Ken always did have a massive ego and this was his biggest exercise of it. If the 7/7 bombs had happened the day before instead of the day after the decision to 'give' it to London, it would have gone to Paris, sure thing.
Personally don't see why McDonalds have to be involved. That's a cynical approach to 'training' our 'citizens' on how to 'greet visitors'. It's quite frankly bizarre.

Other than that I'm very impressed with the site as it looks so far. Take an aerial view tour. Of course the construction phase is also providing much needed work, something this govt can't touch ... much! The central location of the olympic site will mean it's regeneration will have a positive future.

Pip, if you get onto the training course look forward to your impressions and your Olympic experience.
Sorry Pamish, but for that, you get a Meldrew!

Here's an update I posted the other day on how to volunteer.
Thanks Hugh - meeting and greeting registration done. Will let you guys know if I get anywhere with it :)
