Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I came across this  whilst trying to find out what happened to the Khan Bros shop on Queen's Parade which has been taken over by new owners (I had no idea, I was in there 2 days before it closed down and have been a regular for emergency supplies of bread/milk/wine etc for years).

I also discovered that the fried chicken shop next door to Rainbow is up for sale too.

I'm surprised than B&B is up for sale after only a year.  To quote the owners

"we are the largest family owned, independent organic store in Harringay"

(not difficult tbh)

I love beans and barley, and will continue shopping here as long as they are open, so this is great news. If more people boycotted Tesco and Sainsbury and supported solely our independents the less the danger of them closing. I spend slightly more on their organic products admittedly, but less by buying raw ingredients, not wasting food, and cycling there instead of paying for a car & gym membership or a travel card & gym membership. It's so cheap that way and there aren't any losers. Better food, healthier, more sustainable, less traffic, better community.
Thanks Nick!

Funnily enough i shopped there yesterday and it reminded me i should go more often as there's a really good range of stuff.

My only critical comment is that the inside cafe bit  is underexploited, it looks very spartan, there's only 2-3 tables and it never looks very welcoming to me as somewhere to sit and relax.

I'm no interior designer, but I'm sure you could do more with that area...

i think it is a great place. we have beers and coffee there frequently. As feedback, we did try a weekky shop there once, trying to see if we could move to leaving the big stores. The food wad great, but maybe justifiably high priced. maybe the strategy is to sell one or two quality, expensive items to passers by, but an idea might be in core items like chicken to offer something ethicalish, but not so ultra ethical and expensive.

i really hope your buisness is success .

Baldwin's do free range chickens. Lots of other stuff too. I like it when the shops compliment one another. This tried to be Blend, Jam-in-a-Jar and Local Store all in one.

I think the shop is great and the guy there is lovely and really knows his stuff. In fact we love to have B&B, Blend and Harringay Store and all have lovely people working there and visiting.

I buy all of my cleaning supplies there, shampoo too, along with any nuts/seeds/pulses etc they have that Harringay Local don't.

Glad your not selling.

"The Guy" is Paul on the counter and is an absolute godsend. He gave me loads of advice post my c-section on how to get fit and strong with some organic meats and vitamins. He does the shop proud and is so friendly along with the rest of the staff.

Baby first toothbrush set and weekly organic veg to puree plus her  Nannycare milk is nice to have on my door step. So pleased your staying open & keep up the good work. Its nice to have a corner cafe with nice light and spacious room for either working on the laptop or sitting with the baby.

Well Done

I'm so sorry I forgot his name. Paul- yes. Senior moments all round, Paul is wonderful. He probably has some advice for my forgetfulness!
