I'm not sure if people realise quite how fast Covid cases are rising in London & the South East.
You can see the latest data for Haringey on the Government's site here:
https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/cases?areaType=ltla&are...
Remember that the biggest risk of infection spreading is indoor mixing with people who are not part of your household.
Here's the graph as it stood after Friday's results came in:

No, testing has been pretty stable in recent months - though I've seen a tweet today from someone who couldn't get a home test as they had run out, so the increase in cases may be leading to a shortage of tests.
Note also that hospitalisations are also on the increase; here's the London hospitalisation graph: https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/healthcare?areaType=nhsregi...
Deaths are a lagging indicator (someone needs to get infected, get ill, get worse & go to hospital, get treated, then for treatment to fail) - so it'll take a few weeks for covid-related deaths in London to increase.
The increase in cases is very real.
Between 10-17 December the number of tests actually fell every day (from 400k to 350k). The fact that cases are rising as testing falls is incredibly worrying
Tests have increased by 4% over the last 7 days, new cases have increased by 51%. How’s your A-level maths?
If you want to see the local situation, check out the government's map of results at a 'medium super output area' level here - zoom in to see what's happening around here:

I've attached an image of what the map looks like as of Sunday 20th evening, it has cases up to 15th December; some examples of that week vs the previous week:
If you go back in time on the slider you can see how few cases there were at the start of September, and the huge increase (and spread of purple) over the last couple of weeks.
We have a rampant new strain in the Southeast spreading like wildfire, PM announcement at 16:00, there's a possibility of transport being shut down.
I'm sure I must be preaching to the converted .... but .....May I be so bold as to invite encourage you .. your friends.... fellow HOL members to download The C-19 ZOE free app Professor Tim Spector & team. Kings College London .This app is used to study the symptoms of C-19 and track the spread. These guys were one of the first to identify ... lack of taste and smell as symptoms.
Simple to use... independent of the government ... the data is ahead of the government ...
Active cases in Haringey 1898 up by 94 from last week.
Cheers
Is Haringey officially in Tier 4 now?
What are the guidelines for the clinically vulnerable?
Do they still have to go work like in Tier 3?
Boris looked clueless when asked at the press conference, embarsssing.
Don't see guidelines yet on the gov uk site
Ok found it
Is there a difference between clinically vulnerable and clinically extremely vulnerable?
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/tier-4-stay-at-home#sports-and-physical...
Clinically extremely vulnerable means having a medical condition that increases your risk a lot, like people who have had organ transplants or with immunodeficiency, see: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-on-shielding-an...
Clinically vulnerable is a wider group including all over 70s and people with a range of health conditions, as described in the main Tier 4 guidance under 'Protecting people more at risk from coronavirus'
Thanks Micheal
My mother takes Immunosuppressants so I really don't want her to go to work but the guidelines only say extremely vulnerable can't go to work.
So no idea if she is eligible to get paid leave
Thanks Neil. The one for Eric Ding didn’t work. Try this one
