Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

With the (hopefully) imminant arrival of Spring, and lighter days, we're looking for some curtains to keep our bedroom dark.

We currently have blinds in each window, but they don't do a great job, so think that curtains will be better at covering all gaps.

Has anyone recently got curtains for their bay, and if so, where did you buy them.

Did you go for specialist fitted, or did you get something from a chain store that did the job?

(I did a search of the forums, but nothing on the topic has been discussed since 2016)

We bought from chains - probably in sale - and found curtains that retain heat in winter and are cool in summer! Just measured width and length as usual amd then used a track suitable for bay windows.

We had ours made by M&S Marble Arch about 5 years ago. They were made to measure for the downstairs front bay window, and if I recall correctly were about £250-270 def. less than £300 - they are fully lined and x 2 to meet in the middle. That also included delivery and I think that price included the tie backs.

One section has faded in the sun, but we were instructed to swap them around to stop that from happening, so if they recommend that, then don't be lazy like us.

(by comparison I think we went to John Lewis first and for the same thing they quoted over £1000 - although he fabric we wanted was not off the rack, so to speak. In M&S, the fabric was).

I've got ones from Luxury Curtains (corner of Beresford Rd and Green Lanes). Was cheaper than John Lewis, etc, -plenty of fabric to choose from and decent quality with the blackout lining. Just measure up and they make them to measure.

A curtain track is easy enough, there are plenty for bay windows which you just bend to fit the profile.

Did they provide the track, and did you fit them yourself?

I already had a track fitted. They probably could provide one or you could just get something like this https://www.polesandblinds.com/speedy-fineline-hand-bendable-metal-...

I fitted them myself. They were already gathered so it was just a matter of hooking them on.
