Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Radio 4's You and Yours recently included a feature on the Back to Netball campaign recorded at the Sir Thomas More School Glendale Avenue Wood Green.

The Back to Netball campaign has been designed to meet the needs of modern women so they can play during the day while their children are at school and try to link it to facilities where there is easy access to childcare.

It is designed to allow people to have an outlet at times to suit themselves with the option of dropping in and out to suit their lifestyles.

This initiative has been recognised by Sport England who has given one million pounds to create another ten netball development community coaches across the country in areas of deprivation where it is known there is a latent demand.

Netball England has recently introduced free affiliation to all primary schools, which means growth in that membership category has risen from 123 schools 2 years ago to currently just under 900 as of this month (January 2012).

In November England, currently ranked third in the world, competed against the other top five countries and won that championship. There was practically no media coverage of a sport that has some of the fittest athletes in the country.

There are  a number of local venues where you can join in. See England Netball's Back to Netball page for more details and venues.
