Only my Bramley tree still has some fruit left on it. This morning I found a good bucketful on the ground, that's about 8kg and, now that the weather is turning cooler and windier, I think the rest of the crop will all be on the ground before Guy Fawkes.
This lot have accumulated since the last pressing I did on 16th. It's enough to fill the press and will give enough juice to fill all our remaining empty bottles for pasteurisation. If there any later pressings this year, the juice will be used for cider which I haven't attempted for some years.
Just moved to a property with an apple tree, but it sadly only produced 3 apples this year. One rotted, another was on my neighbour's side, but the third one was delicious!
Our apple crop is almost finished. The last of the Bramleys are falling during the cold nights. Beginning in August we have pressed about 350 kg of apples and pasteurised 160 bottles of the juice. The rest was drunk fresh. All of our bottles are now full so juice from the very last batch of apples, about 35kg, which was pressed on Tuesday, is destined to be fermented into cider. This process does not always come out well, so keep your fingers crossed for us.
