A friend and I are planning a pop-up night of entertainment in a vintage shop.
The theme will be a working men's club. We want to trial it to see if it's viable so it we cant offer payment this time round. Just a few songs or a few jokes for a short 'turn' is what we're looking for. You'll get a free drink or two and some club food and get some publicity!
Get in touch if you are interested!

my friend has a wonderful act but it is a bit more than a few songs. Very unusual and highly entertaining. if you have a good PA then he does not expect to be paid first time, if you do not have a pa then he needs to discuss that. probably not working mens club theme but keep him in mind for future pop up shops/
Hi,
There is a pub in south London which runs a night for first time/fairly new comics. The format they use works really well and might be worth considering. Each budding comic brings a friend, they both commit to staying for the full evening. They get about 20 comics a night and they each do a 5 minute slot in a random order. The upshot is that each comic gets a decent sized, and most importantly sympathetic, audience. The comics all perform for free to get experience and try stuff out. 50% of the audience are in the same boat so you don't get heckled.
Don't know if that's a useful idea for you or not.
hi Neil and thanks for this. Sounds a good set up.
All we need for our event is one comic and possibly a singer for a very short 'turn' or two. we will be having bingo, food and other things going on. What I need is some way of contacting wannabe singers/comics who might want to trial out their skills for 20 mins at a very small venue with max of 30 people. If you know anyone, perhaps you could give me a shout! ta.
