As if I need telling, but a study reported
over on the BBC website has found that British people are the worst in Europe when it comes to recycling electrical equipment.
It appears that the UK produces enough electrical waste to fill Wembley Stadium six times over and we, in Harringay, see many, many items that could be recycled and parts reused just dumped in the street and sometimes smashed up by people.
There are plenty of alternatives and we are trying to bring all the information together in the
Harringayonline wiki (a rather slow developing labour of love I have to admit, this page still has masses more information to add to it) and
alert people to ways of finding out where to go to get rid of their electrical waste.
Haringey Council will remove quite a lot of it for free and works with a number of social enterprises to recycle and reuse all manner of things.
Yet the council don't seem to making a very good job of making people aware of the options. It seems from this report they are not the only one...
