Alroy Rd / Endymion Road raised junction and crossing points
The Alroy Road and Endymion Rd raised junction and crossing points are due to be constructed from 16th February. For many years this has been a very dangerous junction for pedestrians and it's a huge relief that finally we will see something done about it. Myself and fellow councillors for the ward met with officers on site some months ago to seek to address the problem. We agreed at the time the course of action and Cllr Mcnamara committed to allocate a budget. Now that we have a firm date I will keep you updated.

Thank you Emine, had worked that out, which is why I reported that 'It's not a zebra ... crossing'.
Given the road speed limit will be a notional 20 mph from February 2016, and also that the Alroy Rd (20 mph) approach already has a hump near the roundabout, a way of reducing speeds on the two Endymion Rd approaches would be to add matching humps at safe distances from the roundabout.
How about it - would you add that proposal to your dialogue with officers
(if it's not already being assessed) please?

I have to say that I don't get this. It sounds like they're saying that a zebra crossing will cause cars to stop. That may in turn lead to other cars hitting stopped cars if they come round the corner too fast. I imagine they then fear cars being shunted on to pedestrians using a crossing. Aren't cars stopping at the mini-roundabaout anyway? It's not clear to me how a controlled crossing would increase shunt danger.

Although I suggested earlier adding humps to further slow the traffic, I realise that all these 'bright' ideas can really be seen as multiple sticking-plaster syndrome - slight tweaks and fudges at low cost which don't truly solve a perceived problem.
IF there are a lot of pedestrians who (wish to) cross there, then the safe thing to do is to make it a traffic-light controlled T-junction. That wasn't accepted when the council agreed to act, and won't happen I think - too expensive, and bigger delays to rush-hour traffic.
Currently the safest alternatives are at the zebra crossing an annoying 150 metres down Endymion Rd, or at the Hornsey Gate entrance to the Park 150 metres up Endymion Rd, or at the traffic island in Wightman Rd past the railway bridge, another 100 metres or so backtrack.
Those, if known about before you arrive at the roundabout, cover most local residents' needs e.g. I use the Wightman one and then (crossing back) the top Endymion one to get from Umfreville into the park without backtracking.
Only those residents living within 150 metres of the roundabout are inconvenienced by having to make a detour longer than the direct route, in fact, not all of whom will do that walk anyway. It's about 200 dwellings, 400-800 people perhaps.

I think we are missing the point here. A number of remedies were recommended in the consultation and they were agreed upon.
I'll give the officer's the benefit of the doubt that they discussed all the options you discuss above with their consultants the Project Centre (PC). I have worked with PC a little and they seem like a reputable company although I can't be guarantee they are always impartial and often these companies side with their clients needs.
So I would prefer to stick to the facts - PC recommended a raised platform in addition to all the other recommendations and the consultation report agreed. This has not been followed through and what had been delivered is a huge waste of money. In addition to everything discussed above we have also had to compromise on loosing the islands in the middle to assist people to cross. In fact Haringey agreed to raised "drive over" islands on the raised table at 2 locations on Endymion Road but these haven't been delivered either.
I've tried to explain all this to the Cllrs but noone seems to be getting it and Haringey officers are coming up with excuses that dont cut it.
If we go back to the Consultation which was posted out to us and look at the Consultation report - the project has not be delivered as promised. Simple.
The only remedy is to deliver the project as per the consultation report. To fail to do this will mean that Haringey are not acting as per their corporate policies or potentially legally in planning or other legislation (though I am not a solicitor). I do have experience in public realm construction, urban design, planning and community consultation within local government so I know how to analyse these reports and how local government should behave.

A great opportunity has been lost to improve pedestrian access to Finsbury Park and provide a safe pedestrian crossing on Alroy Rd. (See pdf. docs on page 1 of TTTH's response.)
I would incorporate as many roads from the bridge to Endymion Rd for political clout, including Alroy, Venetia, Tancred, Conningsby, Lothiar N/S, and Wightman Rd's with over 160 houses and many more residents, then you may find a political will for improvement.
Let's support this drive to put this back on the table.
